(Mrs) Karen Richards, has been playing Scrabble competitively for 13 years, together with her husband, Paul (power station construction manager). Alastair, the youngest of their five children, and now aged 17, has been competing against adults since the age of 7, when he won his first trophy.  He is now one of Australia's top players, and the 2008 NSW Champion. Before retiring, Karen trained managers and supervisors.  She now devotes her time to travelling the world, coaching young people in the art of playing Scrabble. Karen has also organised the World Youth Scrabble Championship annually since 2006.
Karen chairs the Youth Committee of WESPA (World English-language Scrabble Players Association)
